Platypus Pens

3D printed, handcrafted & seriously cool

We are delighted to welcome Platypus Pens back to the Melbourne Pen & Stationery Show.

Like no other pens you’ve seen

If you like your fountain pens a little different, you’ll want to seek out Michael Lew and his wonderfully inventive creations. From the compact and affordable Model 3, which can be fitted with a nib, rollerball or ballpoint refill, to the striking Model 20 with its clever twist-fill system, Platypus Pens are definitely not your everyday writing instruments.

What makes them even more interesting is how they’re made. Each pen is handcrafted using 3D-printed components, opening up an incredible range of colours, textures and finishes. Michael writes almost all of the code for the printing process himself, carefully developing each design to produce components that are precise, consistent and beautifully finished.

What started as a retirement project has grown into something much bigger, with a growing group of fountain pen enthusiasts coming back for more. Come and see what all the fuss is about, try the pens for yourself and have a chat with Michael at the show. Please stop by and say hello at the Platypus Pens table – you might just discover your next favourite pen.
