Your next pen will be a work of art

Where gold, silver, and glass become magic
American-born, Japan-based glass artist Lucas Mahoney has been working with molten glass for over 20 years, creating one-of-a-kind pieces that shimmer, shift, and shine. His handmade glass dip pens are nothing short of magical – featuring colour-shifting spirals made with a technique called precious metal fuming, where vaporised gold or silver is worked into the glass. The result? Iridescent patterns that change colour depending on the light and background.
Lucas’s fascination with glass began at just five years old, when he watched a lampworker create delicate ships at a local mall – a moment that set him on the path to becoming the artist he is today. Every pen is a unique work of art, crafted with patience, precision, and an eye for beauty. Whether you’re a collector, a writer, or simply someone who loves exquisite craftsmanship, you’ll be mesmerised by Hanabi Glass Studio.
Come meet Lucas at MPSS and discover your own glass masterpiece.
