Uncommon Articles
Bringing together clever handmade creations and quirky bookbinding charm, with a mix of prints, practical goods, and stories you won’t forget.
Uncommon Articles is a treasure trove of handmade delights. From bold lino prints like Langford’s Gap to herringbone pencil rolls, passport wallets, and even unique lighting and furniture, every piece is designed with both function and personality in mind. Whether you’re looking to brighten up your desk or carry your favourite pens in style, there’s something here to make the everyday feel a little more special.
Adding to the mix is Phil of OrtBindery and the Melbourne School of Bookbinding, whose work combines craftsmanship with a wonderfully playful spirit. His own story reads like something from a modern fable—“born under a road sign, raised by wolves, rescued by a lighthouse keeper”—but behind the whimsy is a deep respect for tradition and a wealth of hands-on experience.
Together, Uncommon Articles and Phil embody a love of craft that is equal parts practical, imaginative, and a little bit unexpected. Their creations invite you to see the beauty in small details and carry a touch of storytelling into your everyday life.
We are thrilled to see Uncommon Articles make their Melbourne Pen & Stationery Show debut. Don’t miss the chance to welcome Phil in person and pick up at least one of his delightful creations.
