Toyooka Craft

Handmade wooden pen accessories and stationery from Toyooka Craft.

We’re delighted to welcome Toyooka Craft to the Melbourne Pen & Stationery Show for the very first time.

Established in 1969 in Hamamatsu, Toyooka Craft Co., Ltd. began as a woodworking company producing organs, drums, and pianos for Nihon Gakki – now known as Yamaha. Today, they are renowned for their exquisite, metal-free wooden products, crafted using the traditional kumi-ki technique: a precise joinery method where wooden pieces are fitted together without nails or screws, relying instead on advanced cutting and polishing methods.

One of Toyooka Craft’s signature innovations is a building technique developed by their founder, based on meteorological studies. This method allows for 0.1mm adjustments that anticipate and accommodate the natural expansion and contraction of wood – up to 0.5% in hot or humid conditions.

For over 30 years, the Toyooka Craft Collection has been beloved by authors, scholars, and creators of all kinds – combining functional design with a deep respect for materials and craftsmanship. Be sure to give the Toyooka Craft team a warm Aussie welcome by visiting their tables at the show.
