Hachimonjiya
A Japanese store founded in 1695 and renowned for blending Japanese tradition, seasonal beauty, and modern creativity.
We are delighted to welcome Hachimonjiya to the Melbourne Pen & Stationery Show for the very first time.
With over 300 years of history, Hachimonjiya has grown from its origins as a bookseller in Yamagata into a beloved name in Japanese culture and stationery. Established during the Meiji period, by 1968, Hachimonjiya had redefined the concept of being a bookstore by opening a café within its landmark store and a pioneering “complex bookstore” format to surprise and inspire visitors. Today, they continue this tradition through innovative store designs and a carefully curated online presence.
Hachimonjiya’s passion for stationery stems from a desire to capture the fleeting beauty of Japan’s seasons. Their journey into original stationery began with inks inspired by the soft pinks of cherry blossoms, the white of fresh snow, and the vibrant reds of ripe fruit. This dedication to expressing nature’s transitions soon expanded into finely crafted fountain pens, notebooks, and writing accessories.
Among their signature creations are the Kubozakura Bloom, Jellyfish Aquarium, and Ginzan Snow Gray fountain pens, highly desirable and sought-after pieces. With products that combine artistry, tradition, and functionality, Hachimonjiya continues to bring the beauty of Japan’s seasons to desks around the world.
Be sure to give the Hachimonjiya team a warm Aussie welcome by visiting their tables and experiencing their items at this year’s show.
