Bura Bura is a one-woman small business dedicated to the mindful upcycling of vintage Japanese kimono fabrics. Each piece is thoughtfully handcrafted, giving these beautiful textiles a new life to be treasured and enjoyed for years to come. Many of the journal wraps and pen wraps are true one-of-a-kind creations, made from small pieces of carefully sourced vintage fabric that can never be replicated.
Inspired by a lifelong love of Japanese culture and time spent living and working in Japan, Bura Bura was created with the aim of preserving the beauty of traditional kimono textiles while helping divert some of the many tonnes of kimono discarded each year.
The work continues a long-standing Japanese tradition of repurposing kimono once they can no longer be repaired. By transforming these precious fabrics into journal wraps, pen wraps and other stationery accessories, Bura Bura honours their history while creating something both practical and beautiful. Each piece carries its own story, offering a unique way to protect and celebrate the stationery you treasure.
